Change is Good!

I often delay in writing blogs because I have so much to say and share! I want to write about change, networking, health, my personal experiences and more! So I thought I would just begin by typing and seeing what comes to mind first today...

Last night my husband and I attended an awesome meetup group hosted by the amazing Rosa Conti! Alissa Monteleone spoke about Living Mindfully and making small changes by focusing on one at a time. It's interesting because Loren Slocum, who I admire and respect so much, wrote an amazing book called Life Tuneups that is in line with the same topic. I highly recommend it (and you can get it by clicking on it in my Amazon.com favorites link on this blog!) :) I met Loren this past summer at her book launch in Westport, CT and she is very down to earth, truly lives what she teaches and I greatly respect that!

During Rosa's introduction she so kindly mentioned our new meetup group, Networking Dynamics that my husband, Danny and I recently created. To me that was so sweet of her, I got so excited! Just like when Chris Makell tells me I'm so amazing and says Danny and I inspire her! I'm mentioning this because it surprises me when people do and say these things because I don't expect it. Alissa talked about that during her presentation as well. Give to others and don't expect anything back and it will come back to you tenfold!

I promote others all of the time. I've been told I should get into PR! But I genuinely love helping others and promoting them and their business! When I say this out loud or write about the kind things others do for me and say about me, it helps me realize what goes around truly does come around! :)

I want to keep this short, but during the presentation, Alissa also mentioned making time for spirituality. That really hit home because I recently created time for my spirituality and it has brought me so much peace and happiness. Whatever it is that brings you spirituality, whether it is a higher power, taking a bath, sitting in the woods, I highly recommend making that time for yourself daily, if not weekly. I attend many personal development events and work on my business, health, relationships and finally made time for my spiritual life! I just wanted to share that because I truly believe everything happens for a reason and a person came into my life recently and brought me back in touch with my spirituality and oh does it feel good!

I always end anything I write with Hugs or Magnificence or Outstanding, so please make your night or day full of all of the above! :)

Your Health = Your Wealth

Hi! And thanks for visiting my blog! I am really enjoying sharing some personal and business information with you. Yesterday I was blessed with the opportunity to do an education presentation at a networking group I belong to (BBA, organized by Amy DiPippo) in Avon, CT. So I decided to call it "Health Education with Heather!".

So here are some of the tips I shared (Note: I am not a certified Nutrition Counselor, I am just passing on information that I have learned and used myself):

We often find ourselves achieving success or working hard to get there, at the great cost of our health, time or family. To have true wealth in our lives it is not only financial freedom but mastering our health as well.

*80 million people have some form of heart disease (The American Health Association)
*1 in 3 women and 1 in 2 men will have cancer in his or her lifetime (National Cancer Institute)
*Over 20 million children and adults have diabetes. (American Diabetes Association)
*64% of adults are overweight (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
* About 59% of adults do not engage in any vigorous leisure-time physical activity (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
*Our national health care expenditures were 2 trillion in 2005 or $6700 per person (National Coalition on Health Care)

So why are we so unhealthy?

*Poor Food Choices *Not drinking enough water

- Did you know we are supposed to drink? Half of our body weight in ounces.

*Lack of exercise - *Stressful lifestyles
*Environmental factors - *Sleep deprivation
*Approach to medicine: “Treatment” instead of “Prevention”

FACT: The U.S government has spent billions trying to find a cure for heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Their Conclusion: Disease is easier to prevent than it is to cure. Their recommendation: Eat 7-13 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. The problem: Almost no one does. What can we do about it?

Some suggestions:

1. Keep portions moderate, especially high-calorie foods. In recent years serving sizes have ballooned, particularly in restaurants. Split a dish with a friend or only eat half and eat the rest for the next day’s lunch, and don’t order supers-sized anything.

2. Eat early, eat often: Starting your day with a healthy breakfast can jumpstart your metabolism, and eating the majority of your daily caloric allotment early in the day gives your body time to work those calories off. Also, eating small, healthy meals throughout the day, rather than the standard three large meals, can help keep your metabolism going and ward off snack attacks.

3. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes—foods high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, low in fat, and free of cholesterol. Try to get fresh, local produce

4. Drink more water. Our bodies are about 75% water. It is a vital part of a healthy diet. Water helps flush our systems, especially the kidneys and bladder, of waste products and toxins. A majority of Americans go through life dehydrated.

5. Limit sugary foods, salt, and refined-grain products. Sugar is added to a vast array of foods. In a year, just one daily 12-ounce can of soda (160 calories) can increase your weight by 16 pounds. See suggestions below for limiting salt and substituting whole grains for refined grains.

6. Don’t be the food police. You can enjoy your favorite sweets and fried foods in moderation, as long as they are an occasional part of your overall healthy diet. Food is a great source of pleasure, and pleasure is good for the heart – even if those French fries aren’t!

7. Get moving. A healthy diet improves your energy and feelings of well-being while reducing your risk of many diseases. Adding regular physical activity and exercise will make any healthy eating plan work even better.

8. MOST IMPORTANTLY - Do it One step at a time. Establishing new food habits is much easier if you focus on and take action on one food group or food fact at a time. Try something out for 21 days and it becomes a habit!

Cleansing – we should cleanse at least once a year – cleanses can last 24 hrs to 10 days. Generally 3-7 days.

Did you say 'internet business'?

I wanted to share this interesting article with you as I greatly admire Vanessa Summers. I found the statistics she posted very interesting yet true. Enjoy the read! ;)

Did you say 'internet business'?

by Vanessa Summers

I’ve been talking money with business owners for close to 10 years. Here’s what has happened for me: As a business consultant / coach, author, speaker and trainer, I get to see the inside financial scoop on entrepreneurs in every industry, their business incomes, sales & marketing strategies that POP and ones that FLOP, to their bank account size, and even investments they own.

Think about it, in essence I get to see the inside track of emerging successful business trends before the main marketplace. My clients also get the extra benefit of having these 'HOT' new cutting edge business growth and money making trends modeled to them - oftentimes giving them the exclusive opportunity to lead their industry!

Right now the biggest trend in the NEW economy is the internet!

In essence, the online world is booming. Why? Simply put, the economy has slowed down. The stock market is tanking. The real estate industry is consolidating. Think about all the small business owners out there like yourself, and also big business and industry. In this major economic shift, they’ve been asking, “How do I market more effectively and reach more people in this slowdown for a lower cost?” They’re solution: the online world.

Think about this, 'Timing has finally met opportunity'. To get a perspective, the internet browser was launched just a short 16 years ago. Now, finally, software and technology is at a place to allow businesses to market more successfully for lower cost, expand market shares, and ultimately work far less while quadrupling their income results.

Research tells us that:

*There are over 1.5 billion Internet Users
*By year 2014, the number of Internet Users is set to double
*Every 3 seconds someone joins the Internet community
*Bill Gates has said, "If your business is not online, your business will be out of business"

Bar none, the most exciting, profitable place to be for business owners today is online. When I work with entrepreneurs today, oftentimes I teach them how to successfully and quickly transition their offline business to online. Think about this, business owners can leverage their growth and profitably like never before in history going online with their marketing taking them from the archaic offline marketing 'one-to-one' into the hip online world marketing 'one-to-many', oftentimes automatically while they sleep!

Today we are not just in the NEW Economy, we are also in what is being called the INFORMATION economy. It is the sharing of information that is what is highly coveted in the marketplace today. Business owners, like never before in history can capitalize on their expertise of their products and / or services, thus leveraging their knowledge through automatically sharing it via emails, videos, blogs, social media and other incredible online mediums, which in turn establishes them as the expert in their field to consistently drive more sales and income growth.

With the exciting progression of technology and the demand for the online world globally, businesses have the opportunity to brand themselves and bring value directly to their current clients and prospects on an entirely new level.

I have been in closed door meetings for months putting together my most exciting seminar ever, 'Online Marketing Academy' - December 4 - 6, 2009 here in Los Angeles.

This seminar teaches business owners how to market online and profit within 30, 60 or 90 days upon exiting this transformational course.

What would the value be to you to know how to successfully market your products and / or services online? How about expand your market share for little cost while building customer loyalty and branding?
$10,000.00 dollars? $100,000.00 dollars? OR is it really closer to $1,000,000.00 plus of a projected ongoing revenue in the next years of your business to come?

What my students tell me is that up until working with me, they often found that there is a ton of gimmick and hype when it comes to marketing on the internet with their offline business, but not a powerful all inclusive system that easily explains in detail how to successfully integrate their business offline business online!

Once my students know my 7 step system to online marketing made easy, the formula behind the steps and the places to go to apply the formulas, it forever changes how they look at the internet. And more importantly, impacts their profitability and income growth immediately.

Change how you think about your business and how you think about doing business - and oftentimes along comes a spike in your business income that can quickly be repeatable and expandable.

Right now, it’s all about the internet. That is what’s booming. I really believe what’s happening online right NOW will be historically viewed as the next BIG technology boom - - and this industry will carry us out of the current recession.

Does this scream amazing opportunity to you? If not, it should! Research tells us that the online industry will create more multi-millionaires in the next ten years than ever before in history in any industry. Why not be one of them?

Manifesting My Destiny

Good evening to all reading! :) What a magnificent day today! My husband and I went to a company training in Rhode Island/Mass today and it was a phenomenal experience! :) We had the opportunity to connect with powerful people (Angel Lee) and network with business owners that are from Connecticut that we are going to team up with. It was a day of not only learning, but genuine connections and remembering what we are passionate about and WHY we do what we do, not necessarily how. Because the how comes when we know the WHY! What a simple yet true statement.

The reason I titled today's entry manifesting my destiny is because I have been talking with those that I look up to and trust in my life about wanting more 'time' to help my husband with our business and to spend with family and to travel. I was blessed with that opportunity this past week. I truly believe that if you want something bad enough it can happen and it happened for me this week! :) I am so excited to begin this new adventure with having more 'time'!

On a separate yet related note I wanted to write about connections. I know I wrote about networking last entry, but it is so powerful! Chris Makell of Career Crossing that I met at Contacts and Compacts in Danbury recently shared an awesome group she is part of in Newtown and I attended with her. After the event we got chatting and I came to find out she used to work near my hometown, Binghamton and is also a FIREWALKER! See now that is the power of attraction and the power of the 6 degrees of separation that I truly believe in! Tonight I also met another fellow FIREWALKER! And to me those connections are the most valuable in my life and the most powerful because they are so genuine. We have a connection of an experience that we both went through and can share that powerful energy!

This year we have truly been blessed to meet so many outstanding people including AJ Monte who we have partnered up with, and I can't wait to create another OUTSTANDING year in 2010! We are going to Florida, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and a handful of other places that I know we will be traveling to!

Sending hugs and positive energy to you all! <3 Heather

The Power of the Internet and Networking

Good afternoon! :) This past week has been phenomenal! My husband is so busy with his business and it is really taking off, I am so proud of him! I wanted to share a bit about the power of the internet today and the impact it has had in my life personally and professionally. First of all, I met my amazing husband on the internet. So, yes the stories you see in the advertisements are true, it is possible to find your soul mate online! :)

I love networking with other professionals, but it often begins online. There are websites such as meetup.com where you can search your area for groups that get together face to face to network, gather dogs to play, etc. I meet up with a magnificent group of women every two weeks in Hamden called the New Haven Women in Business - Marketing Strategies. In this group I have met the photographer for our wedding, Barbara Ambrocio; Nikki Auguste who designs websites, has designed my business cards, and helps you promote your business; Sandy Lentini of Cabi (who introduced me to the gorgeous Karen Marino, who helps you take care of your skin!); Gaynelle Felder of New York Life, Amy Desmarais of Ripple 100, Debbie Szczepanski of Dove Chocolate (who introduced me to her friend Amy DiPippo that runs a Business Builders Alliance meeting that I also attend monthly) I am mentioning these women because not only do I network with them, but I call them my friends now as we have all build relationships with one another!

I used to do a lot of networking on myspace before Facebook and Twitter became more valuable and met my friend and hairdresser Shellie, of Allure a Full Service Salon in Southington, CT who I love dearly. I also had joined some online yahoo groups and chatted via the internet with other business professionals and have met some great woman there as well!

Another website is MetroMom.com. I was introduced to Kim Deyoung's site through Laura Campbell, who I also met online through an Anthony Robbins graduate site, since we both have attended his events. I began emailing a woman that lived close to me, Julie Clark and we decided to meet for tea. She introduced me to this outstanding event in Danbury called Contacts and Compacts by Cathy Moore that I attend regularly now. At that event I have met some really amazing women too!

All of the people, mostly women that I have met through networking haven't all become my customers, but most importantly they have inspired me, motivated me, introduced me to more amazing and powerful women, have shared tools to grow my self and my business and invite me to new events to attend and network at. We all also stay connected via the internet on Facebook, in which our posts inspire one another and continue to provide resources for each another, whether it be an interesting article, video or new referral. I have also met a few amazing people on LinkedIn!

I could probably go on and on with stories about how I have met this person or that person, but a huge part of my network I have met either online or at networking events. Do you think it might work for you?

I would love feedback on my blogs since this is new to me, I would greatly appreciate any and all! Thank you!

Hugs,

Heather Nieves
